Outfit Ideas For Your Boudoir Session

The beautiful thing about boudoir is there is no proper outfit. There is no perfect image, and it is not for a specific type of person. You can wear anything from a wedding veil, to a bedsheet, to nothing at all. This guide will give you some inspiration.

Boots

Boots are like the sexy stepsister to heels. So fun, so playful. It can be a sexy pose to be pulling them on ready for a night out. You can wear them with a dress, lingerie, or nothing at all.

Bridal

Congrats on your wedding! A lot of people think bridal boudoir pictures means your veil is the focal point. Not true. There are so many different white pieces you can wear to get the bridal look without any of the cheese.

Button Up Shirt

This is one of my favorites! It is so versatile. The button up shirt look has a feel of waking up late on a Sunday and tossing on a favorite shirt of your partner’s. It can be tame all the way buttoned up or spicy pulling it open, taking it off, or letting it lay so it just barely covers you.

Cocktail Dress

I love to start photoshoots in a cocktail dress because it can tell a story of the first part of the date. When the page turns, and you’re unzipping or sliding it off it is a beautiful suggestion for what we can expect in the next few pages! It is also a great way to ease into the shoot if the idea of shooting in lingerie still intimidates you (which it does for most!)

Crop Top

Some people really love lacy lingerie, some really love casual Fridays, and some love both. The crop top can do wonders for your shape, and it is so suggestive. Play around with ones that are loose, tight, cut out in the back and various lengths. I think you will find something you really like.

Heels

A classic. Heels do so many things. They make your legs look longer, tone up your calves, help your posture, and add an extra layer of sex appeal to almost any lingerie outfit. Even if casual is your thing, I still recommend bringing at least one pair.

Bra & Undies

These come in so many different styles from solid to transparent. It really comes down to what you're comfortable with. Go with something more modest, or something a little more revealing.

Jeans

Jeans are another one of those more everyday outfits that you can make sexy and suggestive by unzipping them in a photo, or doing a picture with only the pants and no shirt on. Jeans can give a girl next door character that is super playful.

Robes

It can be hard to style an outfit that isn’t just a bra and panties. Robes can give the idea of lounging around the house. They can be playful to slip off or can even be worn without a bra underneath to add something to the imagination.

Off the Shoulder Sweater / Sweatshirt

This is what we most commonly start off shoots with because it is playful, it gives your hands something to do, it is suggestive and there is something about pulling clothes in all different directions that is so sexy.

One Piece Teddy

We have arrived at my absolute favorite lingerie to photograph. Sometimes called a bodysuit, I think these are the most underrated lingerie there is. It is incredibly flattering on all body types. There are a million different designs for how it covers you and it is more versatile than you would think.

T-Shirt

This is another casual option to start off your shoot with. There are a million poses you can do with a t-shirt. A shot of you taking it off makes the perfect transition to show the next outfit on the following page of your album.

Sheet

This is such a favorite of so many women because it is the ultimate “leave a little to the imagination.” You can appear completely naked while revealing less than most pictures in typical lingerie. The bed sheet is often the final “outfit” and it ends the album with a bang.

Leather

Anything from a leather outfit to a leather jacket. You can’t go wrong with including something leather to you wardrobe.

Nude

What can I say? Your birthday suit is the most beautiful thing you can wear for your boudoir session. What better way to show off your shape and highlight the details you love about your body.
